# What to Do After You Activate Your Citi Credit Card

In general, you can start using your Citi® credit card as soon as you activate it. There typically isn't a delay between activation and your first purchase.

## First steps with your new card

**1. Sign your card**

Sign the white or gray box on the back of your card.

**2. Set up online access**

Use Citi Online or the Citi Mobile App to view your balance and statements.

**3. Turn on alerts**

Enable push notifications so you're told about purchases made in store or online.

**4. Destroy your old card**

If this card replaces an older one, securely cut up the old card once the new one works.

## How do I know my card is activated?

Try activating it again: if it's already active, you'll usually see a message saying so. If not, you'll be prompted to finish activation. You can also contact customer service to check.
